FAQ

Who is the floor pressure mat designed for?

Our floor sensor mat is designed and manufactured in the U.K. and can be a very useful way of monitoring when a loved one is mobile.  They are normally used with people who stand up from a chair or get out of bed and could perhaps fall over.  Sometimes the patient may be able to walk but due to dementia and/or mobility issues, they may put themselves or others in danger.  Some of our customers have found our floor pressure mat useful as an alert for children and some have found the mat useful as an alert for sleepwalkers.

How does a floor pressure / sensor mat work?

You simply place the mat where it is needed e.g., by bedside, chair or to alert entry or exit of a room.  You can cover it with our barrier mat which will help to lengthen the life of the pressure mat.

As soon as the mat detects a change in pressure (i.e., a foot makes firm contact with the mat) then the mat will send an alert to your chosen receiver allowing you to intervene before a loved one may fall or injure themselves.

The person making contact with the mat will not be alerted directly to avoid any possible disturbance.

The receiver is already paired before dispatch and is ready to go out of the box.  There are no complex instructions to follow.

You will be alerted if the mat is stood upon via your chosen alert system.

The range of alert is approx.200 m and is perfectly suitable for domestic and care home range.

Which mat is right for me?

Whilst there is no real one fits all solution, we recommend the following combinations as follows:

Nurse Call Integrated Systems

These are primarily used in Care Homes and are tailored to integrate with C-TEC Quantec Addressable Call System, Intercall and C-TEC 800 Series. Unless one of these systems has been installed in your private residence you are more likely to require one of the systems below

Nurse Call Pressure Mat with Wireless Mains Receiver

This system is prefect for those that do not need the receiver to be portable as the receiver can be  plugged directly into the mains supply via the integrated 3 pin UK plug for an always on and powered solution (150m range).

This solution also offers powered passthrough so you will not loose a wall socket as additional devices can be plugged into this unit.

Nurse Call Pressure Mat with Wireless Portable Receiver

This unit offers additional flexibility by utilising a battery powered receiver. This unit is the perfect solution for you if you need to be mobile around the house and still be alerted anywhere within 150M of the mat.

Nurse Call Pressure Mat with Wristwatch Receiver

Our most popular unit ships with a wristwatch receiver which has all the functioning of the versions above yet offers greater flexibility and ease without the need for transporting a portable receiver unit.

The wristwatch offers either Audio, Visual and vibration alerts or a combination thereof.

Many of our customers have choosen this as it allows a more discreet alert at times where an audio alert may disrupt other members of the household, i.e. during sleep.

How many mats will I require?

This really depends on how your area is laid out. If for example the bed is against a wall or has side protection allowing exit from one side of the bed only, then a single mat should suffice.

However if the patient is able to exit from both sides of the bed then we recommend 2 mats at a minimum.

For reference the following device allows multiple mats to connect to a single receiving device:

We offer a reduced rate  on an additional mat purchase  for this product which are available in the recommended products at the bottom of this products listing page.

Additional mats are currently only available when purchased with the above product.
